I did the other, and while technically what I hate most is a wood paddle, this one is a heavy paddle, with holes. It only gets used for punishment and only for Really serious talks.
I voted for the cane. It's not an OTK implement... which is the position I overwhelming prefer to spank in. It also can literally cut a session short if used too harshly... at least in my inexperienced hands. Not really part of my 'spanko DNA' either, given that I grew up in the US and canes weren't a part of that experience.
Suzy says her's is a heavy wood paddle because "it hurts most"... which is pretty straight forward.
