Laughs...I do the same thing and in fact just bought my own carpet beater. I had seen them on videos and wondered what they would feel like. Mine looks very similar to yours. I think the ones on the videos seem to be more flexible. I have actually felt my carpet beater and well...it hurts!...but did not seem to have the same motion, action as the ones on the videos.
I have purchsed 95% of my implements...many of them very OUCHIE!
